Director of the State Museum of the History of St.Petersburg.
    Born Jenuary 16, 1947 in Tekotovo Village, Sudislavsky District, Kostroma oblast into a family of geologists-native born Petersburgers. That year the family moved to Leningrad.
    Graduated from the Leningrad Plekhanov Mountain Institute in 1977.
    Was trained at the Economics Faculty and took his Ph.D. studies at the Leningrad Kirov Textile and Light Industry Institute.
    From 1968 to 1969 worked as a researcher and as a guide at Solovetsk Branch of the Arhangelsk Local Museum.
    Since 1972 has been working at the State Museum of the History of St.Petersburg.
    From 1989- Deputy Director of overhaul and operation, since September has been Director of the Institute.
    Married with son and daughter.
